The Library will pay for a certain number of Inter-Library Loan requests on your behalf:

  • Students: 30 requests for free per year
  • UWL staff and research students: 50 requests for free per year

Requests above this allocation will incur a non-refundable charge. Charges are based on British Library pricing, and are as follows:

  • £5.45 e-copy from digital copy
  • £10.90 e-copy from print copy
  • £12.40 print copy by mail
  • £15.50 book loan

Any renewals, where they are available, will need to be paid for by the borrower. The current renewal cost for 2017/18 is £4.85.

If an Inter-Library Loan item goes overdue or is lost, any charges will be the responsibility of the borrower. The British Library charges a fee of at least £160.10 (plus VAT) for lost items, including a non-returnable administration charge of £80.05 (plus VAT).

Requests from borrowers who have overdue charges on their Library Account, or who have items that are long overdue (from Library stock or inter-library loans), cannot be processed.
